100 Things I Love about Travel – #39 – #30

Published on November 5, 2010 by

We’re nearing the end, with only a few more weeks to go on 100 Things I Love about Travel.  I’ve seen a pretty good response from this series, and I’d love to get some more comments.  Even better, I’d love to see other travel lovers out there come up with their own lists of what they love about travel.  There are so many incredible things about traveling, whether it’s a weekend trip to a nearby locale or a lengthy trip around the world.  There’s something to love for everyone, and with everyone’s differing opinions, I’m sure we could come up with some incredible lists.

If you’re new here or don’t know what this series is about, be sure to check out the explanation on the very first post, #100-#90.  Then go back through and look at all the other things I love about travel.

A trip to the floating market on the Mekong is a great way to spend the day

And to top off our list today, we have a video from our day of tubing in Vang Vieng, Laos.  If you know nothing about this, it’s a right of passage of sorts for backpackers in SE Asia, and while a great time, the whole thing is a bit ridiculous.  This video was taken at one of the “bars” along the river, and this particular bar had a homemade waterslide.  A friend we met, Marcus, and I provide the commentary.

I can.not believe you put that video on youtube.

  2. I've been loving your lists!

I do have a question — where was the motorbike picture taken? I spent today riding around Pai, which was AMAZING, and the landscape looks very similar!

    • It was indeed in Pai, so you are correct. Love that place. We took an awesome cooking class while we were there as well, called “Let's Wok with T.”

  3. Your lists rock!!! They always put the biggest smile on my face. :)

  4. Great list. Still looking forward to seeing number one though.

  5. You got your mom to go ziplining? I can barely get mine to drive on the freeway!

I have to say that I stifled a laugh with the slide incident. It was GREAT.

    • Yeah, my mom was awesome when they came to meet us. She was a great sport about everything and just threw caution to the wind. It was fantastic. My little sister was with her as well, and she was 19 at the time, never been out of the US, and she was incredible as well. Thanks for the comment!
