Picture of the week – India

Saris in India

Women in their saris never got old while in India

This week’s picture comes from Jaipur, India.  One of the aspect of India that we absolutely loved was the bright, vibrant colors of the clothing, particularly women’s saris.  We encountered this  group of women at the Jantar Mantar, or Observatory, in the middle of the city.  We could see them from 100 yards away, and when we were leaving, they were coming in.  We asked to take their pictures, and they were quite happy to oblige.  While Indians always seem to want to be in tourists’ pictures, for some reason they don’t seem terribly fond of smiling in said pictures.  That’s OK, though, the colors of the saris are the main reason I love this picture.
